Yangon - Thanlyin - Kyaikhtiyo - Bago – Yangon
DAY 1 Arrive Yangon
Arrive at Yangon International Airport. Welcomed by our tour guide. Transfer to Hotel. Yangon sightseeing includes Botahtaung Pagoda at the bank of Yangon river, then city center where Sule Pagoda located to see the bustling life of Yangon and City Hall. Then visit Bogyoke Aung San Market (former Scott’s Market), where one can buy many items in one place. This Market was built in British colonial times and has a colonial shape. Then proceed to “Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda” it is the fourth largest colossal reclining image in Myanmar and 67m long. In the evening, visit the most magnificent and spectacular religious edifice, Shwedagon Pagoda before the sun set and enjoy the beauty stupa while it changes the shining of gold in different tones according to the radiant of the setting sun. Stay overnight @ Hotel in Yangon.
Day 02 Yangon - Thanlyin (coach/boat)
Today your guide will pick you up at your hotel and escape from the glamour and noise of Yangon to the small, rural town of Thanlyin and Kyauktan, just across the river from Yangon. Thanlyin is a relaxing place, with shaded streets and a busy market to stroll through, but there is little of the ancient city to be seen. Our first stop is at Kyaik-khauk Pagoda which is a scale-down Shwedagon with stupendous views from its hilltop location. Next, we'll visit Thanlyin's market where you can see local vendors and lives of rural Burmese people. Afterward, we'll continue our visit to the remains of the Portuguese-build church, which was constructed in 1750. Lunch at a local restaurant. (own account)
After lunch, continue our way to the southeast of Thanlyin to visit Yele Pagoda which is a sparkling floating temple adrift on a river. Catch one of the local ferry boats to reach the islet. If you wish, you can feed the massive catfish splashing about at the temple complex's edge. After exploring the Yele Pagoda, we'll back to Yangon and head to your hotel where the rest of the day is your leisure. Overnight at hotel in Yangon.
DAY 3 Yangon - Kyaikhtiyo (coach)
After an early breakfast, drive to Kin Pun “base camp” approximately 194km and takes about 5 hours. Upon reaching Kinpun Base Camp after 2-hour drive, you will be transferred into open trucks for a spectacular ride up the Hermit Hill Base Camp. Continue to Kyaikhtiyo, the Golden Rock, a huge boulder completely covered by gold leaves and delicately balanced on the edge of a cliff that makes the trip truly worthwhile and unbelievable. Pilgrimage is at its peak during the Full Moon day of Tabaung in March, when 90,000 candles are lit at the site and the golden boulder shines in the night sky. Enjoy the stunning sunset and beautiful panoramic view from the top of the hill. Stay overnight @ Hotel in Kyaikhtiyo.
DAY 04 Kyaikhtiyo - Bago - Yangon
After breakfast, back to Yangon, via Bago approximately 110 km and takes about 8 hours. Bago sightseeing includes “Kanbawzathardi Palace” the famous palace of King Bayinnaung (1551-1581 A.D.) is being extensively excavated and some buildings are being rebuilt. “Shwemawdaw Pagoda” was originally built by the Mon to a height to 23 meters in the 8th century and was rebuilt higher several times until it finally reached its present 114-meter stature in 1954, the highest pagoda in Myanmar. “Shwethalyaung Pagoda” Built in 994 A.D by King Mingadippa, It is 55 meters long and 16 meters high, another biggest reclining Buddha image in Myanmar built during the 9th century. “Kyaik Pun Pagoda” It was built by King Dhamma Zedi in 1476 A.D, four gigantic Buddha images all in sitting posture facing the four cardinal points of the compass. After sightseeing, proceed to Yangon. Arrive Yangon and transfer to hotel. Stay overnight at Yangon.
DAY 05 Departure
